📖 Daily Gospel Reading – December 6, 2025
Saturday • First Week of Advent
🌅 FIRST READING
Isaiah 30:19–21, 23–26
Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel:
O people of Zion, who dwell in Jerusalem, no more will you weep;
He will be gracious to you when you cry out; as soon as He hears you, He will answer you.The Lord will give you the bread you need and the water for which you thirst.
No longer will your Teacher hide Himself, but with your own eyes you shall see your Teacher. While from behind, a voice shall sound in your ears:
“This is the way; walk in it”…He will give rain for the seed you sow and the wheat that the soil produces.
The lamb will graze in spacious meadows. The light of the moon will be like that of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times greater…
On the day the Lord binds up the wounds of His people and heals the bruises left by His blows.
🎶 RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm 147:1–2, 3–4, 5–6
Response: Blessed are all who wait for the Lord.
Praise the Lord, for He is good; sing praise to our God, for He is gracious.
It is fitting to praise Him.
The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem; He gathers the dispersed of Israel.
R: Blessed are all who wait for the Lord.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
He tells the number of the stars; He calls each by name.
R: Blessed are all who wait for the Lord.
Great is our Lord, vast in power, with wisdom beyond measure.
The Lord sustains the lowly, but casts the wicked to the ground.
R: Blessed are all who wait for the Lord.
✝️ GOSPEL
Matthew 9:35—10:1, 5a, 6–8
Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness.
At the sight of the crowds, His heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then He said to His disciples,
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the Master of the harvest to send out laborers for His harvest.”Then He summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits and to cure every disease and every illness.
Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them:
“Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons.
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.”
✨ REFLECTION (Deep Yet Simple)
Today’s readings overflow with one theme:
God sees your pain… and He sends rescue.
1️⃣ God hears your cry immediately (Isaiah 30)
“As soon as He hears you, He will answer you.”
Not later.
Not when you are perfect.
Not when life is fixed.
As soon as you cry out.
Advent reminds us that God is closer than we think—
the moment you pray, Heaven starts moving.
2️⃣ Jesus is moved with compassion for your condition (Matthew 9)
When Jesus saw the crowds:
“His heart was moved with pity.”
He didn’t see their mistakes—
He saw their exhaustion.
He didn’t see their failures—
He saw their need for a Shepherd.
When God looks at you today,
He sees your:
-
stress
-
battles
-
loneliness
-
confusion
-
wounds
-
unanswered prayers
And His heart is moved.
3️⃣ God doesn’t just comfort you—He empowers you
Jesus didn’t stop with compassion.
He summoned the Twelve and gave them authority:
-
to heal
-
to free
-
to restore
-
to proclaim hope
God comforts you so that you may comfort others.
He blesses you so you can bless others.
He heals you so you can bring healing.
This is the Advent mission:
To bring light into the darkness of others.
4️⃣ “Without cost you received; without cost give.”
All the love you have—
all the forgiveness you received—
all the blessings poured into your life—
You did not earn them.
God simply gave them.
Now He invites you to give freely:
-
kindness
-
forgiveness
-
time
-
prayer
-
compassion
In a world full of brokenness,
your generosity becomes a reflection of Christ.
🙏 CLOSING PRAYER
Jesus, move our hearts as Yours was moved.
Teach us to hear the cry of the lost, the lonely, and the hurting.
Thank You for healing our wounds and calling us into Your mission.
Give us the courage to love, to serve, and to give freely—
just as You gave everything for us.
Amen..
